The 35th African Cup of Nations Kicks Off in Morocco

The most prestigious football tournament in Africa, the 35th African Cup of Nations, is set to begin on December 21st in Morocco, with the opening match taking place at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The host nation, Morocco, will face Comoros, marking Comoros' second-ever appearance in the tournament since its inception in 1957 in Khartoum, Sudan.

EP 4: The Vinyl Resurgence

I know it's hard to imagine but there was a time when vinyl was the only way audiophiles could listen to music unlike now, where you have a plethora of options. There is a lot of chatter about the vinyl record having a resurgence due to the fact that a lot of artists are frustrated with streaming and they feel disconnected from their fans or the debate that vinyl sounds much better than streaming or any other audiophile not even CDs. 

What do I think?, I think it's awesome that we are having this conversation right now because it shows that around the world, a lot of passionate music locers care so much to champion a status quo and say hey we miss vinyl , it's awesome and with that movement, we can have more of our favorite records pressed. 

As the love for music and community unfolds Africa isn't left out of the conversation, the juggernaut in High life, Afrobeat, Amapiano, Fuji and so many other music genres is also having fun with the vinyl record digging and rediscovery of music amongst people of all ages. 

In East Africa, Kenya a record store called Melodica has been making waves since 1964, founded by Mzee Daudia. It has been a neighborhood staple for all ages both young listeners and older collectors , whom flock to get their favorite records. Their Melodica was already in existence before EMI and Polygram set up shop in the mid-1970s in Nairobi. Melodica record store is like a right of passage, so if you're ever in Nairobi make sure to stop by to peruse their collection. 

Music is a universal language and it's so much fun discovering new records and the stories behind each record.
